PHD Nutrition Diet Whey 2kg Information

This is THE product for those seeking lean muscle and great fat-free condition. PHD Diet Whey contains a precision, slow-release protein blend to maximise satiety and ensure no hunger pangs or energy crashes during the day.

PHD Diet Whey is a high-protein meal with a huge difference; it contains a multitude of potential fat-loss ingredients which may assist with the building of fat-free muscle, without any
bulking or excess calorie intake - and that means more muscle and less fat!

PhD Nutrition's Diet Whey contains a slow-release protein matrix along with fast-acting protein sources to assist lean muscle building. And don’t worry, it has no added sugar or maltodextrin. Let’s face it, a drink that claims to aid with the reduction of body fat and enhancement of muscle tone should not contain simple sugars, it’s a contradiction in terms! There are a variety of high-protein diet powders on the market that contain good protein sources, but then spoil it by using dextrose or maltodextrin as the carbohydrate source.

The PhD “Enduragain” Low-GI, slow burning carbohydrate formulation found in Diet Whey is derived from Waxy Barley, a unique and innovative “first to the market” low-GI carbohydrate source, derived from the finest UK barley crop. Diet Whey will provide enough protein, carbohydrates, fibre and essential fats to ensure satiety for up to 3-4 hours, perfect for athletes intent on improving performance and appearance.

Also featured in PHD Diet Whey are: PhD Iso-Tone 4, a vital athlete-support system containing antioxidants, fat-loss agents and EFA’s; L-Carnitine, an amino acid that is essential to the metabolising of body fat; CLA, used worldwide to support fat-loss and provide vital support to a restricted-calorie diet; Green Tea Extract, a strong antioxidant to assist with the thermogenic effect of Diet Whey; Essential Fatty Acids, for optimum health, vitality and weight-loss

Too long, didn't read version:
Nutrition: good balance of protein vs. carbs
Texture & Consistency: fairly thick, reasonable consistency. Easy blend. Very filling.
Flavour: Good range. Chocolate has an aftertaste of coconut.
Price: Does seem expensive, but shake for shake reasonably comparable with other brands

The long version:

Just tried PHD for the first time after deciding that I really don't like Promax Diet, and having been advised that EAS is discontinuing in the UK. Good opportunity to try something different!

So, first things first, the nutritional balance:
At first glance, this seems a fairly similar mix to Promax in terms of protein vs. carbs, however as it's a slightly smaller portion size PHD is actually higher in protein per gram, and slightly lower in carbs. In my book, that's a plus; your mileage may vary!

Texture-wise, this was really good - came up nice and thick, no lumps, and blended quickly and easily.

Very easy to drink, although strangely enough it was ridiculously filling. It did take me half an hour (whilst walking home from the gym), to finish off one shake simply because my stomach wouldn't let me go any faster. I don't think that's a bad thing as obviously if you're going to use this as a MRP, having something filling is really handy.

Flavour-wise, I've only tried the chocolate so far, and have to admit I'd be wary of buying the others without finding somewhere on the high street to try first (simply because at £50 a tub, this is too expensive to risk buying a flavour you hate). However, there is a really good range of flavours - nice to see something a bit different rather than just chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

The Belgian chocolate flavour is good - nice and chocolatey, not too sweet, however does have an aftershot of (weirdly) coconut - unexpected enough for me that it did take me a full 30 minutes to figure out what that really familiar but definitely not-chocolate flavour was! So if you like Bounty bars, this is the product for you. If you hate coconut, probably not so.

Pricewise, PHD does actually feel pretty expensive. The more savvy among you will be whipping your calculators out at this point (as in fact I did) and finding that shake for shake, this is actually cheaper than some of the other brands out there and roughly comparable with others.

Overall, a really good product, I'm really pleased with it!
